How do you use your time?

Do you know that we all have limited time? Whatever time we get from our birth until we die is the only time we all get to make the difference in this world. But the question is – How do you use your time?

If you do not know the answer yet, then it is time to find the answer out.

“Time is Money,” you must have heard of this several times!

We all want to become successful, some dream to become the wealthiest person, and some wants to become a business owner. But do we all do what successful people do? Probably NO!

The key difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is how they use their time. Everybody gets the same amount of time in life, 24 hours in a day, seven days in a week, and 365 days in a year, how you use these days and hours make the difference. Where you invest, your time makes you, either successful or unsuccessful.

People being on time for everything that they do often achieve their goals, while the ones who struggle in their business or life are usually late for everything that they do. Successful people understand the importance of time, and that is the reason they are driven to maximize even the microseconds of their lives to their advantage. You can locate such people quickly in the crowd. Like when you go to the airport, you will see several people waiting for their flights. Some would be indulged in gossiping; while some would be busy on their phones and social media, some will be chit-chatting with their families (which is a good investment though), and only a few will be with their laptops on and being productive while they wait.

Unsuccessful people let time getaway on them with their full knowledge, which indicates that they do not value their time as money. Whether you are a business owner or a student, time is precious; if you don’t understand this now, tomorrow will be too late.

Here is how you should use your Time:

1. Have a power pack morning

How you spend the first hour of your day plays a vital role in your day-to-day life. If you are amongst those who scroll their phones just after getting up, then you’re on the wrong track already. Understand that the first hour of your day is the most critical. You must spend it wisely. Successful people know that their first hour is very precious, so they spend it on activities like exercise, doing yoga, meditation, reading, setting goals, etc. If you tend to check your social media or personal messages or emails in the morning, then your chances of success are already least. You are wasting the very precious hour of your life. Instead, have a time block for social media and emails, like once in the morning or evening. Know that time management is critical. All we have is this time to either do something constructive and become successful or waste it and regret later.

Time management is a priority setting! Wherever you invest your time, you put in your energy there. So, know what you spend your energy in before putting your time in it.

2. Respect your Time

You must respect your time. Television, social media are all the biggest time-waster in today’s world. If you are utilizing social media for your business, it is useful. However, if you are using it for killing time, then it’s the most significant wastage of your time. Successful people consider this as being disrespectful of their time by not being productive. Today, due to the coronavirus pandemic, when most people are killing their time watching TV and doing social media, successful people are busy making strategies for their future. If you wish to maximize your opportunities, then you must be respectful of your own time and other’s time as well.

3. Be on Time

Timeliness, when dealing with others, is critical to your overall success both in life and business. Getting late for meetings or events is not charming. By doing so, you are wasting other people’s time. It is essential to think about how your untimeliness is effecting your success. However, in case of exigencies, it is always good to make others aware that you are a few minutes late.

4. Use technology to your advantage

Successful people use technology to their advantage, while unsuccessful people use to kill their times. Successful people use it to maximize their opportunities, while unsuccessful people use it to read other’s updates. Instead of reading other’s social media feeds, invest your time in doing something constructive. Don’t get me wrong; I am not anti-social media; what I want to say it – it is essential to have balance in life. If you genuinely want to be successful in life, then keep track of your time and see where you are investing it. Make use of technology for your benefit, not for killing time.

5. Know your magic number

It merely means – know your financial goals. Each person wants to earn money in life. But do you know that the money that you make is directly proportional to the time you invest in it? For instance, you want to earn $100,000 in a year, and you work 40 hours a week, and you work for 50 weeks in a year. This means the total number of hours that you work is 2000, and you need to make $50 per hour to fulfil your desire. If what you are doing is not worth what you want to make, then you need to reconsider the time that you invest in that.

Moreover, knowing your magic number will help you stay motivated and utilize your time in the right way. The simple formula for time to become successful is time Invested = Returns. If you are not getting the right returns for your time, you need to reconsider the whole thing.

6. Spend time with family

To be successful emotionally, you must spend your time with your loved ones. Since time is valuable, so, wherever you invest your time, you should see what you will get in return. Spending time with family will give you immense happiness and pleasure. You see any successful people; they are successful in every aspect of their lives, be it personal or professional life. Remember, only emotionally stable people make for success in life. Unsuccessful people will be emotionally unstable, as well. Spending time with loved ones make you emotionally stronger and stable. Being emotionally stronger is vital to face all the odds in the world.

7. Avoid minimum wage activities

Stop investing your time in something that causes you money. You should spend your time in things that give you a return. Here is an example, suppose you got your telephone bill on your email, which you found quite too high. And immediately you called at the customer care, and you wasted one hour arguing with them about the bill. What do you think you have got during that hour, nothing at all! You lost your $50 that you could make in that one hour and, most importantly, your peace of mind. Say your bill was $250, after wasting your one hour, now your bill is $300. This is an absolute waste of time; instead, invest your time in finding better solutions. Avoid spending your precious time in minimum wage activities, things that affect your life adversely.

8. Learn a new skillset

Remember, learning is a constant process. No matter how well educated you are, no matter how amazing your scores were, change is inevitable. Nothing in this world stays the same. It is always good to stay abreast and keep yourself updated. You should spend your time learning a new skill set. Like, after this corona crisis, one thing is clear that conventional methods will no longer survive. If you think that after this pandemic is over, things will be better, then you are mistaken. Know that you are going to step into a new world after the coronavirus subsides. Those who will accept the change will survive for sure. Don’t wait for tomorrow; instead, start learning from now. Invest your time to build your future. Learn a skill set that you can use to make money, like, digital marketing, affiliate marketing, etc.

Learning a new skill set can help you in several different ways like you can start your own business, or you can use the skill as an additional source of income. This is the time you have got to design or shape your future. So, don’t waste this precious time, utilize it, maximize it to the best of your abilities.

9. Don’t wait for tomorrow

Whether you want to learn a skill set or want to start your online business, don’t wait for tomorrow. Today is the right time, start investing your time in the right things. Successful people never wait for tomorrow to complete a task or start something. Whatever they feel is essential for them to just give their time and energy to it without wasting any moment.

Summing it up……

Know that this life is nothing but the reflection of how well you invest your time. Understanding the importance of time is critical to your success! If you wish to become successful, then maximize every second of your day, stop wasting your time in unnecessary things, and instead spend your time in improving the quality of your life. Stop getting wrapped up in non-revenue generating activities!!
